Finished the edits on Chapter one this week, and got two more job apps in -- all in a week with three grown up and two child halloween parties! That's progress!
Ran 15 easy minutes on Tuesday, then went to a track to meet a local group of runners, along with B. That was interesting -- I ran by myself, as I got stuck in traffic and was just warming up when the group took off. I think there might have been people there who would run at my pace, which would have been a good thing. Its an hour drive, though, so I don't know if I can committ to that. Its at a highschool track, and the school's marching band came out and practiced while we ran -- I had a hard time not matching pace with whatever they were playing. :)
Workout that night was: 1200 m warmup
3x 1600m (1 Mile) run @ 8:00, with 400m jogging rest between
2x 400m @ 2:00, with 200m jogging rest between
800m cool down
The thing I mean in the title of this post is that I don't know how fast I can run or for how long, really, so its hard to set a pace. I decided on 8 minute miles because that's faster than I was doing in the spring, and is kind of the base I'd like to work for in the 10K I am running in three weeks.
B had a bit of a meltdown, running his first mile sub 6, the second on 6:05, and cracking in the third. We had another bloody-minded conversation; he argues that a really bloody minded runner would have slowed down and finished that third mile, I contend that it was bloody minded to try to run sub 6 miles when you're only back running for three weeks. I think we're both kind of right.
So, for the record, now that I am running regularly, I am committing to losing 10 pounds by new years. I am at 185 now, and am going to try to lose a pound a week. Keep me honest folks!
Fun halloween parties this year -- J, after a disastrous start, had a great night trick or treating, and it was good to see some friends, and better connect in with some of the grad students who are a year behind me -- always a dicey proposition, since I don't have classes or anything with them.
Peace out -- long run today -- going for 7 miles. We shall see!
