Snow!

I know this is tough for some of you out there -- but we haven't had any snow here in DC this winter. Finally, yesterday, we got 2 inches, and then last night a coat of freezing rain to go on top of it. J finally got out on the sled, and since we have an awesome hill right behind our house, much fun was had.

And, bonus! Its about 40 today, so the ice wasn't a big threat. J did get a 5 day weekend, though, and couldn't be happier, I think.

In other news, I went to Seattle and played dip. Existential crises were faced and overcome satisfactorily, though not without angst (if you care for additional details please let me know, its not something I am putting out into the world).

Seattle's group always puts on a great event, and a lot of fun was had. Coach made me go running on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday -- 17 miles on Sunday. That was interesting for me, as I went on dead reckoning and a watch for timing. About 90 mins in I got the feeling that everything was right with the world, and what a beautiful place this was, and gee, life is terrific! I knew it must be endorphins, and was proved correct 45 minutes later when a world of pain returned to me. Well, no, actually, it wasn't that bad. But my ankle has something going on that hasn't healed, so I am going in to see the foot doc at the U in a bit. More news on that front as/when/if it becomes relevant.

The xmas present my brother gave me has been lurking like a time bomb -- its a book about death, and it gets pretty heavy going about halfway through. I didn't take it on the trip, instead working on Chapter 2 and preparing for the Spring teaching, and on the way home reading Angels & Demons. Meh -- like the davincicode, the pacing is better than the actual story.

And, finally, last night I saw Hotel for Dogs with the fam. Its one of those disney-esque movies from the 70s where the kids are beautiful, the dogs are beautiful, and everything that looks like it might fall apart comes together in the end. Well done, and hit the mark for the target audience exactly. Lisa Kudrow in the role she was meant to play, afaiac.
